Server Rules and Info

As you would expect: you are bound by rules, are expected to abide suggestions and read ideas and settings to learn about the world.

Main Rules

ruleEveryone is welcome
It does not matter if you're out testing things or want the full experience. We don't mind if you're a starting player and you'll be able to do what you want to do on the server.
ruleBehave
We expect you to treat others with respect and dignity. If you do not behave nicely to others, you can't expect them to behave nicely to you. Behaving very badly might get you banned from the server.
suggestionServer community is thought as 18+
This means you access the server that has profanity filter turned off and expects you to behave like an adult person. Jumping around and screaming is strongly frowned upon.
suggestionDo not grief
It's not exactly nice building your house in the middle of a road. Or right next to any other person's house. When a person plants crops or a forest, it's not nice to take it for yourself. Yes, there are means for protection in game but just the fact that you can do something doesn't mean you always should.
suggestionLook for info
Mostly players are happy to help a struggling fellow with some problems. However, most of the info you request can be obtained from the game - try hovering over the item, an info box appears. There, you can hover again over underlined words and see more info boxes. Where is the item created? What ingredients are needed? How much labour? All this can be found in the game itself. Another great tool is map (M key) where you can see location of everything and when layers are turned on, you can see ownership, pollution and so on. Extremely useful for miners and farmers.
ruleDo not exploit
This is a catch all - previously it covered water wheels without (running) water, windmills underground and so on. It also means weird levitating houses, underwater fields (not counting rice) and so on. If it feels weird and a mistake, you're probably doing it wrong.

Other bits

suggestionThere's Discord server
If you want, you can use our Discord server. Just click the invite link: discord.gg/EPn67jTrMv.
ideaCommunicate!
This is supposed to be a cooperative game. Ask, offer, request and annouce! You don't have to ask for approval about your house colour but you should probably ask when you intend to run a road right next to somebody's house or (worse) through someone's fields. It might be hard at first but we can't stress it enough: speak, write, send smoke signals or dispatch carrier pigeons.
ideaHave a Contract board
It's not mandatory but maybe you could exchange some food for having your fields plowed? Or a chair for having trees hewn and delivered? In an ideal world, you only do what you have stars in because it's much cheaper for you to do that. If you're an Engineer and build roads, have some Miners deliver stone to you. While currency is still not developed, think in the way of "how hard is this for me to create" vs. "how much I want that instead".
ideaHave reasonable prices and expectations
Things take time and materials to create and some are more permanent than others. Food will be by definition cheaper since everyone will need it over and over, while furniture and masonry will be more expensive since you only need that once and it lasts forever. Also, food from four ingredients and longer cooking time will cost more than one from a single ingredient. It's not exactly useful trying to get rich since once currency is created, credits lose their values. And when that happens, see if anyone has a substantial positive credit with you. It might be nice to reimburse that with a little of your money.
ideaOpen a shop and keep it stocked
Again, sell just the things you can create easily. If you're not a Carpenter, your furniture will always be more expensive than a Carpenter's. Offer to supply nails for furniture instead, or food for tools or anything else. It's a good idea to stock your shop before logging out. It also pays to have a Stockpile around your house with public access and a sign saying what you're accepting as donations. Maybe you are mining deep or making roads and expect people to contribute.
ideaTailings are bad
A single pile will not do much but a large quantity will quickly pollute the land around. Maybe there is a miner who uses old mined-out shafts to store them or you can hide them underground yourself. The more blocks above them are, the less they pollute. This might be one of the rare cases where someone will buy at a negative price: you're paying to deposit your waste after all.
ideaKeep it nice
Not exactly a hard rule but try to create a nice house. It might have doors, windows, maybe a roof. You can have items cramped into a room to reap maximum benefits but it will be an eyesore. We want our world to look nice - this is not Minecraft server.
